Screening Religion: Call for suggestions

Starting in October, we will move our "Screening Religion" event series from "Bibliotheca Albertina" to the renowned independent cinema "Cinématèque in der nato" in Leipzig Südvorstadt. In order to present an interesting and stimulating film programme to the Leipzig audience, we ask for your suggestions. We are looking for films that deal with religion - be it as a catalyst for negotiation processes or conflicts, as a marker of identity or as a constitutive element of the social environment. If you know any such films that are suitable for public screening, please let us know. The films should be in English or German or at least have appropriate subtitles. It is not necessary that you are able to provide a copy of the film, KFG will take care of that. Please send your suggestions with a short explanation to Judith Zimmermann. Thank you very much for your support.

Recommended Reading: Blog on Religion and Urbanity

The blog “Religion and Urbanity: Reciprocal Formations” considers the mutual influence of urbanity and religion from antiquity to the present. It focuses on specific case studies, like Mediterranean cities of the ancient world, early modern political or religious centres as well as modern cities, but it also introduces more wide-ranging, theoretical investigations. Additionally, the blog is used to announce major events and publications related to this field of research. The blog is connected to the DFG-funded Humanities Centre for Advanced Studies "Religion and Urbanity: Reciprocal Formations", based at the Max Weber Centre for Advanced Cultural and Social Studies of the University of Erfurt, Germany.
