Job Opportunities: 2 PhD positions in Sociology of Religion/Study of Religions, SNSF research project “Together: Genesis, Practice and Processes of Multicultural Christian Communities”Between 2023 and 2027, the Swiss Pastoral Sociological Institute in St. Gallen/Switzerland will carry out a social science research project on culturally diverse Christian communities funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, and in this context, two PhD positions (80% full-time equivalent) in the field of Sociology of Religion/Study of Religions are being announced. The genesis and practice of culturally diverse or multi- and intercultural Catholic communities in Switzerland will be investigated. The qualitative-empirical project is comparative in nature and will be carried out in two sub-studies in German- and French-speaking Switzerland. It follows the tradition of “Congregational Studies” and is conceived as a contribution to the understanding of “lived religion” under the conditions of increasing cultural diversity in urban areas as well as to a critical and data-based reflection on the concept of conviviality. Deadline for applications is 31 January 2023.
