Publication: Marian Burchardt on Religious Diversity and Nationhood in the Secular West

KFG associate member Marian Burchardt recently published his book on Regulating Difference: Religious Diversity and Nationhood in the Secular West. Burchardt explores how the state regulates religious diversity and examines the processes whereby religious diversity and expression becomes part of administrative landscapes of nation-states and people’s everyday lives.

Within the framework of the Odysseus programme the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies at KU Leuven (Belgium) is actively looking for junior and senior candidates in the field of Eastern Religions.

CfA: PhD Scholarship in Buddhist Studies

Edinburgh Buddhist Studies network, University of Edinburgh, invites applications for a new PhD scholarship in Buddhist Studies. The scholarship is to the value of 25,000 USD per year, for a maximum of four years, beginning in either September 2020 or January 2021. Funded by the Khyentse Foundation.

CfA: PostDoc Position in East Asian Studies

The Seminar for East Asian Studies at Georg-August University in Göttingen is looking for a postdoctoral researcher (100%) with a focus on the history of China/transnational history, starting October for three years with the possibility of an extension for another three year.

CfA: PostDoc Position in East Asian Studies

The Institute for Near Eastern and East Asian Languages and Civilizations – Sinology at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg (Germany) invites applications for the position of a postdoctoral researcher with an interest in modern Chinese history, global/transnational historiography and/or East Asian conceptual history of the 19-20th century, starting in October for seven years.

Re-opening of Museums in Leipzig

Gradually the museums in Saxony will open again starting this week. Tomorrow, 7 May, the Grassi Museum for Ethnology as well as the Museum of Fine Arts (MdbK) will open selected exhibitions for visitors in Leipzig. At the Grassi Museum the special exhibition "Scenes of life: A Japanese Screen and its (hi)stories” is on display. The Mdbk will show works from Norbert Wagenbrett, Künstlergruppe OPAL, Peter Baldinger, Paule Hammer, Wibke Rahn and Jens-Martin Triebel.
