From Universalism to Ethnopathos – Religious Knowledge in the Colonial Encounter between India and Germany

On 16-17 January 2021 the University of Erfurt hosts the digital conference From Universalism to Ethnopathos – Religious Knowledge in the Colonial Encounter between India and Germany organised by Isabella Schwaderer.

Among the participants of the two day event are former and current members and associates of the KFG "Multiple Secularities":
Rinku Lamba
will present a paper on Conceptions of Religion: A View from Colonial India in Panel 1 of the session on Religion, Colonialism and Politics, Vanya Vaidehi Bhargav is in the same Panel and will talk about Lajpat Rai’s Re-definition of Hinduism in the Colonial Encounter. Johannes Duschka will chair this panel. Sushmita Nath will present a paper on Two Expressions of Sarva Dharma Sambhava in Indian Political Thought in Panel 2 of the same session.

The conference has a website where you can find the program, abstracts and bios of the speakers. From January 2021 onwards, the conference contributions will also be available there and serve as a basis for the conference discussions. The conference, the contributions and the discussions will be documented on the website.
