German Book Prize 2020: Blind Date Reading at KUB galleryTonight our trusted bookstore Buchhandlung Südvorstadt is organizing this year's blind date reading for the German Book Prize 2020 in cooperation with the KUB gallery. The German-language "Novel of the Year" is awarded the German Book Prize every year. One of the twenty nominated authors will hold a reading tonight at 7 pm and give an exclusive impression of the his or her nominated novel. However, the audience only finds out on site which author they have blindly accepted. What a nice way to step out of your comfort zone. And we all know: This is where the magic happens. The event is free of charge, but you have to register by e-mail (info@buchhandlung-suedvorstadt.de) or by phone (034131959900)

1st "Nationwide Alert Day" on 10 September, 11 p.m.Important to know!! Tomorrow, the Nationwide Alert Day will take place for the first time. This joint action day by the federal and state governments, serves to test all warning devices throughout Germany. Punctually at 11:00 a.m., warning devices such as sirens and loudspeaker cars as well as information via radio, television, websites and smartphones will be triggered simultaneously in districts and municipalities in all states with a test alarm. So please don’t be afraid – this is just an (however important) exercise to warn of potential hazards such as dangerous weather conditions, power cut, fire or radiation. And… each warning usually comes with recommendations on what you can do to protect yourself or where you can get more information. So let's see what happens! |
